Remove Adobe Reader 9, X and XI with Official Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool

If you were not able to uninstall Adobe Reader X from the Control Panel then you can remove it by using Cleaner tool released by Adobe. Till now, there is no cleanup or removal tool offered by Adobe to remove Adobe Reader or Acrobat installations that failed with traditional uninstall on users machines.

Finally Adobe is now offering Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner tool which removes Adobe Reader 9.x, 10.x installations from your computer, this tool uninstalls the product and removes the registry entries and preferences if any left during the uninstall.

We’ve already covered how to uninstall Adobe Reader X from Control Panel when this method fails, you need to fall back to Adobe Reader Cleaner tool offered by Adobe.

This tool removes Adobe Reader or Acrobat including the preferences and settings that left over after uninstall. Adobe says their tool “designed to fix such issues by cleaning up corrupted installations, including removing or fixing corrupted files, removing or changing permissions registry entries, etc.”

Using Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner tool

1.Download zip file, extract its contents to a folder and run AdbeArCleaner.exe.

2. Once its interface is displayed on the screen click on “Next” button

3. On the second step choose “Reader”, next click on “Clean Now” button where Adobe Reader will be uninstalled, you need to restart your Computer for cleanup process to continue.

This tool has removed Adobe Reader XI on our Computer without any problems.

Remember you need to use this tool only when uninstall of Adobe Reader fails on your Computer.
